Volunteer Meeting

We are seeking volunteers for our summer datathon on Friday July 24th. If you are interested in volunteering on Friday July 24th, please join us for this initial volunteer meeting to learn more about the opportunity. The topic for the datathon is Maternal Health and we will be making a data-guided donation to non-profit organizations in the U.S. working on improving pregnancy outcomes. All volunteers will earn a certificate and will have the opportunity to build a data portfolio as a leader on a project.

3 Portfolio Project Paths to choose from:

• Path 1. Epidemiology path - creating a mini report

• Path 2. RStudio - how to merge datasets

• Path 3. AI - Artificial intelligence for finding public health evidence-based strategies - does it work?

The 90 minute welcome orientation is split into 3 main parts. Unable to join the full event? There are "breakaway" moments between each part. Join us for part or the full 90 min session. Note: "Doors" close after 15 minutes. Times are approximate.

Dr. Flood has over a decade experience in foraging for community health data, as well as in data visualization, report writing, mapping, and data design for software. She is passionate about empowering community change, increasing data literacy, and turning data into actions that will have long-term impact. She has worked with over 2,000 interns as President of BroadStreet.

Q: Will it be recorded?

Yes, parts of the session will be recorded.

Q: What will I need?

Computer recommended. This meeting is an interactive and collaborative session. Joining on mobile is not recommended. If your worksite blocks collaborative platforms like Gdrive, please consider joining on a non-work computer.

Q: What if I cannot make the meeting on Tuesday?

We have a "Video Only" options for those who want see the content but are unable to make the event on Tuesday. We are not 100% sure it is possible to be fully onboarded as a volunteer by watching the recording alone, but we are open to the idea.
