Tutorials Tailored to You

What is your favorite way to learn?

  • Level 1. Watch 'n' Learn. I want to get the information. We recommend the "Video-Only" option.

  • Level 2. Tinker 'n' Try. I may try the data challenge, but I'm not going for a certificate. Recommended ticket-type: Live Workshop or "Video-Only" tickets. Both ticket-types work.

  • Level 3. Certificate Seeker. I want to build my data portfolio and earn a certificate. We definitely recommend joining the Live Workshop for a certificate.

🎯 Data Challenge

Collect key indicators for your community using free sources of data on Insurance Status and create a portfolio project.

3 Learning Objectives

by the end of the session, participants will be able to:

1. Identify and procure secondary data sources (American Community Survey, via data.census.gov) on percent uninsured for a selected geography.

2. Analyze secondary data to determine the health status of a population as it relates to insurance status for a selected geography.

3. Develop a data visualization in a dashboard tailored to a defined stakeholder or target audience to communicate data.

Prerequisites. Beginner-friendly, google account needed for login to Google Data Studio.

Keywords and core concepts also covered:

  • Importing data into 🧰 🛠️ Google Data Studio

  • Turning data into a dashboard

  • Customizing the dashboard for a key stakeholder.

Certificate Seekers

Workshop attendees seeking certificates will have 3-days to complete a Data Challenge. Each Data Challenge is designed to be explained in 20 min. Everyone learns at different paces and in different ways. The average time to complete the challenge is 20-40 minutes. Projects complete by the end of Day 3 are awarded certificates.

Video-Only participants who are interested in the content can sign up to get the raw video recording a few days after the session. While earning a certificate is still possible (watching recording, filling out post-survey), certificate-seekers are encouraged to join the live event. Registering for this ticket also means you are first to know when the session is turned into a self-study tutorial kit on our website (timeline: 2-5 months).
