Collect key indicators for your community using free sources of data on Heat-Related Illness (HRI) risk and create a portfolio project.

  2. Report assessment findings on Heat-Related Illness (HRI) risk data for a defined stakeholder.

  3. Develop a data visualization tailored to a defined stakeholder or target audience to communicate Heat-Related Illness (HRI) risk information.

The 90 minute workshop is split into 3 main parts. Unable to join the full event? There are "breakaway" moments between each part. Join us for part or the full 90 min session. Note: "Doors" close after 15 minutes. Times are approximate.

  • Part 2 (20 min). Step-by-Step walkthrough

  • Part 3 (30 min). Test 'n' Try in Teams. Part 3 is recommended for certificate seekers.

Certificate Seekers


Workshop attendees seeking certificates will 3-days to complete a Data Challenge. Each Data Challenge is designed to be explained in 20 min. Everyone learns at different paces and in different ways. The average time to complete the challenge is 20-40 minutes. Projects complete by the end of Day 3 are awarded certificates.


Video-Only participants who are interested in the content can sign up to get the raw video recording a few days after the session. While earning a certificate is still possible (watching recording, filling out post-survey), certificate-seekers are encouraged to join the live event. Registering for this ticket also means you are first to know when the session is turned into a self-study tutorial kit on our website (timeline: 2-5 months).

Q: Will it be recorded?

Yes, parts of the session will be recorded. Want to be in-the-loop on the Data Challenge, but unable to attend the event? Select the "Video-Only" ticket option below.


Q: What will I need?

Computer recommended for the workshop. The workshop is an interactive and collaborative session. Joining on mobile is not recommended. If your worksite blocks collaborative platforms like Gdrive, please consider joining on a non-work computer.


Q: What if I cannot make the workshop on Tuesday?

We have a "Video-Only" options for those who want to gain the knowledge. We send email updates the week of the workshop. While earning a certificate is still possible (watching recording, filling out post-survey), certificate-seekers are encouraged to join the live event.
