Maternity Health Data: Assessing & Communicating Community Health Needs to a Potential Funder
Learning Objectives:
Identify and procure secondary data sources on maternal care outcomes and access for a selected community or region.
Analyze secondary data using a data tool (Canva Sheets) to determine the health status of a selected county as it relates to maternal care access.( Path 1)
Develop a data visualization in a “mini report” that communicates maternal care access in a community to a key stakeholder for funding decisions (Path 1).

We have $1000 to donate. Can we make an impact on improving maternal care in the U.S.? Together, we will decide where to invest in ❤️ non-profit organizations doing amazing, evidence-based work in📍 key places. Join us as we explore the data, collaborate, and build portfolio projects.

Teresa Tse uses R every week to support the data and epidemiology teams of a metropolitan public health department. With a background in biomedical engineering, Teresa has a passion for using programming, research, and data analysis skills to help improve health outcomes. Teresa is a long-time contributor to BroadStreet Institute as a training program manager on the Maternal and Infant Health Track.

Will it be recorded?
Yes, most of the session will be recorded and the recording will be shared.
Unable to attend but hoping to stay in-the-loop?
Please consider purchasing a morning session ticket as a donation. We will be sure to share all materials, links and recordings.
What if I can’t make the full day?
Options are available for participants who want to participate just the morning or afternoon workshop sessions. Please register for the event and we will be sending around more information about how and when to join during the day.
Can I register for a friend or colleague?
Yes, we have set up the tickets to register 1 at a time. Need more tickets? Simply refresh page and purchase another set.
Who can join?
Anyone! Professionals, students, learners, non-profit leaders, health advocates, parents, teens, full-time caretakers, and anyone looking to solve a health challenge.
What do I need?
For the day, you’ll need a computer with access to the internet, Zoom, and Gdrive. We will be using Google Sheets in the session. This is a collaborative project so please also have a Zoom setup with audio and video.
Will participants get a certificate?
Yes, all participants receive a certificate. Attendees will also have the honor of selecting community organization(s) that are eligible for our data-guided giving.
Do I need skills and experience?
We welcome all learners! No prior data experience is necessary. We have designed the event to be beginner friendly. Those with more advanced skills will also gain useful tools. Our support squad team of dedicated volunteers is available to support you.
