This dynamic internship track is aimed at training leaders and changemakers of tomorrow in data-guided decision-making. The Maternal and Infant Health Track focuses on career-ready skills in program planning, community health assessment, collaborative prioritization processes, and resource allocation. You will be collaborating with diverse teammates and learning critical tools and tech of the trade.
About
The Maternal and Infant Health Track is a remote (i.e. virtual) BroadStreet Community Data Internship. The big picture goal of the track is to reduce pregnancy-related mortality and infant mortality. This hands-on internship training opportunity has a mix of asynchronous and synchronous work with lots of collaboration and teamwork. All skill levels are welcome. Please know that you'll be learning new things at a fast pace with both collaborative and independent tasks, deadlines, and lots of communication each week. The internship is 10 to 15 weeks (depending on the cohort) with a weekly estimation of 2 - 10 hours. During the internship, team members will complete sprints that build the skills needed to design and implement an impactful project to support organizations working to reduce pregnancy-related and infant mortality. The work is iterative and the final step is a pinnacle project which includes a donation to an organization doing an evidence-based program in a high priority area of the United States. Please join us if you are able to devote the time (2 - 10 hours each week) for the duration. Each year, there are 3 internship cohorts that start of the first Monday of the month: February, June, and September.

FAQs
How does the onboarding process work?
After the Orientation Webinar, there is a 10-day onboarding process to familiarize yourself with the workflow of The Broadstreet internships. This includes the a 3-day orientation plus a 7-day Track training where you will learn more about The Maternal and Infant Health Track before joining a team. Once joining a team, you'll work on both collaborative and independent projects for the remainder of the 10- to 15-week internship (duration varies by cohort).
What am I going to get out of this experience?
Throughout your time on the Maternal and Infant Health Track, you will meet amazing people will learn practical skills for making an impact: program planning, community health assessment, collaborative prioritization processes, and resource allocation. You will gain experience in multiple tech platforms for surveys, data, and design. By the end of the internship, you will have donated to an organization doing evidence-based programs in a high priority area. Interns are able to package the skills learned for work portfolios for future employers.
How do I join?
Join by selecting from one of the Orientation Webinars below in the month you wish to start. The internship begins immediately after the Orientation Webinar. We do not conduct interviews. All are welcome. There is a 10-day onboarding process and all milestones must be met to continue.
